To my family, friends and forest of readers,

Asking yourself questions and answering them honestly takes you on the path to self-knowledge.

In keeping with this idea, below are a few end-of-the-day questions for us.

  1. Is anyone a little happier because I came along today?
  2. Did I leave some concrete evidence of my kindness, any sign of my love?
  3. Did I try to think of someone I know in a more positive light?
  4. Did I help someone to feel joy, to laugh, or to smile?
  5. Have I attempted to remove a little of the rust that may be corroding my relationships?
  6. Have I learned something new about life, living or love?
  7. Have I gone through the day without fretting over what I don’t have and celebrating the things that I do have?

If you are not satisfied with your answers today, take this quiz again tomorrow.

As Always,
It’s Me

Amazing uses for Apple Cider Vinegar

If you only use Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) on your salad, perhaps you do not know its potential. Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar can be used in so many ways. By the end of this article, you may start keeping a bottle in several areas of your home, not just the fridge! Apple cider vinegar can be used for hair and skin care, household cleaning, healing and cooking.

What kind of apple cider vinegar?

Buy the raw, organic, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar. Bragg is one brand.

If you have a bottle you may notice some strand-like sediment floating at the bottom.  You may think your vinegar is old, but that is really the most important part.  It’s called ‘the mother’ and it contains raw enzymes and friendly bacteria that promote healing.

  1. Eat and/or drink it, of course!Since apple cider vinegar is a food product with nutritional value and health benefits. Apple cider vinegar lowers glucose levels. It is said to help you feel fuller and eat less. The enzyme in it promotes the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut.MIX 1 tablespoon with a cup of water or herbal tea. It is quite strong by itself, so it is best to dilute it.Apple cider vinegar is a classic salad dressing ingredient.
  2. Relieves gas, bloating and heartburn.By adding a tablespoon of ACV diluted in water or tea before a meal.  It can also help with symptoms of heartburn. Take a little when you feel the symptoms.
  3. Promotes alkalinity.Although apple cider vinegar has a bit of an acidic taste, it PROMOTES ALKALINITY in the body. Cancer cannot live in an alkaline body, so this helps to create a healthy environment.
  4. Non-toxic cleaning spray.Simply mix one part apple cider vinegar to one part water, and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the solution on hard surfaces such as hardwood floors, bathroom tiles, cabinets and counter tops, then wipe it off with a dry cloth. It has antibacterial properties and absorbs odors.
  5. Hair care.Apple cider vinegar, when used as a rinse, will make your hair feel smooth and shiny. It also helps to remove oil. It balances your hair’s PH, which helps to seal the cuticle and make the hair smoother. It can also help with dandruff, and soothe itchiness and irritation of the scalp.Mix a tablespoon or two in a glass of water, and rinse your hair with it at the end of your shower or bath. Be sure to rinse your hair WELL. The vinegar smell will dissipate when your hair dries.
  6. Skin Care. You can use apple cider vinegar as an astringent, by soaking a washcloth/cotton pad in diluted APC and applying it to your face. You can also dab it onto blemishes to dry them out and heal them. It is amazing how smooth your skin feels after applying APV. It tightens and plumps it a bit, and can help reduce or minimize fine lines and wrinkles.
  7. Sunburn relief. While trying to avoid sun damage by not staying out in the sun uncovered for more than 15 minutes, if you do find yourself with a sunburn, apple cider vinegar can neutralize the burn. Dilute it in water and pat on the sore skin, or add a capful to your bath.
  8. Deodorant. Most commercial deodorants are antiperspirants, which block your ability to sweat. Since sweat is one of your body’s best ways to detoxify naturally, we want to avoid the drugstore deodorants and antiperspirants that contain aluminum and other chemicals and synthetic fragrances. You can actually use ACV as a deodorant. Simply rub a bit of ACV in your underarms and it will absorb. The vinegar smell will dissipate when it dries.

There are many other uses for apple cider vinegar, for pets, and warts. I like the number 8 and have shared 8 special uses with all of you.

Here is a recipe for a delicious salad dressing to incorporate Apple Cider Vinegar into your life.

Triple Citrus Dill Vinaigrette

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup grapefruit juice
1 day-old baked potato
1/4 cup dill leaves
1/2 cup flax oil

Put all ingredients in a blender and puree. That’s it!

Store in a jar and enjoy on salad or cooked greens!!

YIELD: About 3 cups

You can improvise, if you don’t have grapefruit juice, double up on the orange juice, or visa versa, whatever you have in your pantry.

The dressing is quite creamy, so you can also adjust the amount of ACV to your taste.
